New Album Release! “10 Great Songs In Search Of An Audience” Scott Fagan And The MAAC Island Band

Welcome, we are releasing  “10 Great Songs In Search Of An Audience”  in this medium, because we are hep..ah hip..ah hep..ah..because one has no time to waste. We sincerely hope that you will enjoy the songs and pass them along. We look forward to your comments and suggestions and to seeing you somewhere down the road, and thank you… Scott Fagan And The MAAC Island Band, 2013.

“Annalee”    (I wrote Annalee (and every word of it true) with Johnny Cayenne, in NYC in 1978 and was first able to record in St. Thomas in 2005. That’s the great Jeff Medina from Trinidad and St. Thomas, on guitar and Morgan Rael on Bass)

“El Gringito”   (One early morning in 1966  in Roberta Wolf’s top floor  “artists garret” on E. 60th Street in New York, as I was standing on her erect ironing board making belive that I was surfing, El Gringito began to formulate its self, developing out of my memories like a photo/audio graph.  I was finally able to capture and record it in St. Thomas in 2005. With the great Jeff Medina  and Morgan Rael on Guitar and  Quatro respectivly)

“SOON” (LIVE) (This live recording with The MAAC Island Band was recently done in Middletown, PA, and  is from our LIVE  CD “Shake A Bum”. The song is of course  the theme from my “Masterpiece”  the ill fated Rock Opera SOON.

“The Ballad Of Sweet Cheyenne”   (Sweet Cheyenne was written and recorded  in LA in 1995, by  Matthew and Tim McCauley and yours truly. Matthew arranged and produced  the track. I was so touched by the beauty of the melody and emotion of the story that I was in tears as I wrote the lyric.)

“Surrender To The Sun”   (This one I wrote with Susan Minsky, I finished the lyric on a hill overlooking Hull Bay in  St Thomas in 1975. I  first recorded it in 1976 as the theme for a Canadian  Film called “Recommendation For Mercy”  We recently did this version  for “The Virgin Islands Songs, The Musical” with Warren Schatz arranging, recording and  producing the track in NYC and me doing the vocal in St. Thomas. The beautiful piano playing is by Bhen Lanzaroni)

“Mademoiselle” (LIVE)   (I wrote Mademoiselle in NYC in 1966, and recorded it for “South Atlantic Blues” with Horace Ott doing the arrangement. This recent live recording is with the MAAC Island Band in Middletown, PA.

“Where My Lover Has Gone” (LIVE) (I wrote this one grey NYC  morning in 1970,  it speaks for its self.

“South Atlantic Blues” (LIVE)   (Written in NYC in 1964/65. I was a young boy/man far from home but still deeply immersed in the life I had known. This live recording is done in Middletown with The MAAC Island Band. This is of course the title song from “South Atlantic Blues”. This album all but buried, is now hanging in MOMA and many other prestigious museums around the world, (thanks to Jasper Johns), as “Scott Fagan Record”.)

“The Virgin Islands Song”  (Written and Recorded in St. Thomas, with beautiful back ground vocals by “Of God”  guitars by Jeff Medina, bass and percussion by Morgan Rael, and the late Robbie Roberts. Originally on the album “Dreams Should Never Die” (The Virgin Island Songs Vol ll)

“Sure Has Been Good Loving You Baby”   (I’ve been working on this one for 47 years. My writing partner, the late great Joe (Jose Silvio Martinez) Kookoolis and I started it in 1965. It was recorded and released by Australian artist Robbie Porter in 1967, but I have never been satisfied with where the story went and how it  ended. I’ve  worked and reworked it  all these years  and now I think I’ve finally got it. This recording is by Scott Fagan And The MAAC Island Band, Co-Produced by yours truly and Jimmy Arnold at Johnny Ramos’s little studio in Lebanon, PA.  Mixed and Mastered by Warren Schatz of Perfect Sound Studios in NYC, for “10 Great Songs In Search Of An Audience”.

So, there you are. I think this is a most wonderful album and I believe these songs deserve to be heard. I hope that you will agree, and if you do..then…, with your help,  they will be. Thank you so very much.
